Established in 2019 by the Makeni Islamic Society Trust (MIST), Iqraa Academy was founded to meet the growing demand for quality education in the Makeni suburb. Guided by our core values of Improvement, Quality, Respect, and Achievement.
Iqraa Academy offers a seamless educational journey from nursery (kindergarten) through secondary level, serving over 700 students. Our curriculum is rooted in the Zambian CAPS(Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement) and enriched by Islamic values, ensuring holistic development that combines academic excellence with strong moral character.
We proudly deliver both the national curriculum (Nursery to Grade 9) and the internationally recognized Cambridge IGCSE curriculum (Grades 10–11), under the supervision of the British Council. Our consistent 100% pass rates in national exams underscore our dedication to academic success and leadership preparation in a globalized setting.
The Foundation Section at Iqraa Academy—covering Baby Class to Grade 2—is where your child’s educational journey begins with love, care, and purpose. We recognize these early years as crucial for developing curiosity, values, and lifelong learning habits.
Our program blends age-appropriate academics with Islamic teachings. Children engage in hands-on, play-based learning alongside daily Qur’an recitation, duas, and Islamic studies, promoting spiritual and academic growth.
Our goal is to lay a strong, faith-filled foundation that prepares your child not only for school but for life, nurturing confident, capable, and caring learners.
The Lower Primary phase strengthens academic skills and Islamic character development. Catering to Grades 3 through 7, this section fosters confidence, curiosity, and responsibility within a structured yet nurturing environment.
In Grades 3 and 4, boys and girls learn together, promoting collaboration and respect. From Grade 5 onward, classes are separated by gender to provide focused learning suited to their needs.
Our curriculum balances key academic subjects—English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies—with daily Qur’an recitation, Islamic Studies, and adhkaar, encouraging well-rounded learners who excel both academically and spiritually.
Iqraa Academy’s Lower Primary learners are prepared to excel in both dunyaand deen, ready to lead with integrity and pride in their faith.
Our Secondary Section offers a progressive learning experience that equips students with knowledge, values, and skills to thrive locally and globally.
Students follow the Zambian ECZ curriculum, developing subject knowledge, practical skills, and a strong sense of national identity. This phase prepares learners for the Grade 9 national exams while encouraging personal responsibility, Islamic values, and critical awareness of societal issues.
Students transition to the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum, an internationally recognized program supervised by the British Council. This curriculum fosters academic rigor, research skills, and critical thinking, preparing students for international opportunities without compromising Islamic principles and moral integrity.
At Iqraa Academy, our Secondary Section is dedicated to nurturing future leaders who are academically competent, morally upright, and globally aware.
