A Legacy of Service: Makeni Islamic Society Trust Zambia, located in Southern Africa, is a nation known for its rich cultural diversity and natural beauty, but it also faces significant economic challenges, particularly in rural areas where access to basic services like education, healthcare, and clean water is limited. Many families struggle with poverty, and formal employment opportunities are scarce, leaving communities in need of support for essential services. In this context, community-driven initiatives play a vital role in addressing the needs of the population, particularly for the underprivileged. Established in 1972, Makeni Islamic Society Trust (MIST) is one of Zambia’s oldest Islamic institutions and a non-profit, philanthropic organization dedicated to serving the community. Based in Lusaka, MIST has become a cornerstone for providing comprehensive social services, including education, healthcare, welfare, and spiritual guidance. Registered under the Societies Act and the Perpetual Succession Act of Zambia, MIST has grown into a one-stop center for holistic community support, offering essential services that empower underprivileged individuals and families. Over the decades, it has remained steadfast in its mission to uplift the needy, continuously evolving to meet the community’s ever-changing needs.
